General Motors will invest 1.5 billion dollars in its new generation of vehicles

General Motors has announced that it will invest 1,500 million dollars (1,350 million euros) in the new generation of ‘pick-ups’ in its plant located in Wentzville, in the State of Missouri, so it will retain up to 4,000 industrial jobs.

The company has reported that it plans to allocate some 1,000 million dollars (900 million euros) in updating the factory’s facilities in order to prepare it for the production of this type of vehicles, whose details have not yet been disseminated.

Mark Reuss, the president of General Motors, has pointed out that “this is part of our strategy to invest in growth areas and strengthen our manufacturing base in the United States; GM sells more vans than any other car manufacturer and we have aggressive plans to take advantage of our strengths. ”

Experts have pointed out that, since the reintroduction of Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon in 2013, the company has managed to sell more than 700,000 units in the United States, which have allowed General Motors to consolidate in the pick-up sector in American industry for four consecutive years.

The General Motors assembly plant, which is located in Wentzville, was inaugurated in 1983 and operates in three production shifts with about 4,000 employees per hour and 330 employees. This silver produces the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon models, as well as the full-size Express Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana pick-ups.
