Gulfstream G550 production ends

The end of the Gulfstream G550 is here.
Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. has announced the sale of the latest Gulfstream G550, marking the end of production for this aviation icon. This aircraft will be delivered to the end customer in 2021.
With more than 600 in service, the G550 has earned its place as a leader in commercial aviation. While manufacturing of the G550 will end, our leading support in the aircraft industry will continue. With more than 30 company-owned and factory-authorized service centers on five continents, as well as the ability to produce and purchase parts, we are well prepared to continue to provide G550 owners with the highest level of support, ” says Mark Burns, president of Gulfstream.
The G550 entered service in 2003 as the Gulfstream PlaneView ™ transformational flight launch pad. Its enormous range and high-altitude capabilities place the aircraft at the top of its class as evidenced by its more than 55 speed records.
“In the past decade, Gulfstream has built a reputation for offering high speed and ultra-long range,” said Burns. “We know that is what our customers want: the ability to fly regularly and comfortably at Mach 0.90, which is where we will continue to focus our new large cabin offerings, be it the high-speed Gulfstream G650ER or the Gulfstream G500 and the next-generation Gulfstream G600 continue this heritage by offering exceptional safety, innovation and performance, making them ideal for commercial and special mission operations. ”
