Tesla delivers the first Model 3 made in China

Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) began the delivery of its Model 3 of electric cars manufactured at its Shanghai plant in less than a year since it began operations at the 2,000 million dollar complex, a record time for manufacturers in the country , and announced that it would accelerate shipments from next month.
The US manufacturer of electric vehicles marked the beginning with an event on Monday where Tesla employees received the cars they had purchased, with one of the workers taking advantage of the occasion to propose marriage to his girlfriend.
The Model 3 made in China is worth 355,800 yuan ($ 50,000) for distributors. Imported vehicles of this model are sold in the base range of 439,000 yuan for the most autonomous units, while standard cars of that version in the United States are sold below $ 40,000.
The plant in Shanghai, which has been operating for just 357 days, is part of Tesla’s plans to boost its presence in the world’s largest automobile market and minimize the impact of the US-China trade war.
The US company, which previously imported all its cars sold in China, said it wanted to start deliveries of its new model manufactured in Shanghai before the Lunar New Year, which begins on January 25.
“In the future, Model 3 vehicles made in China will begin to travel the great highways and small streets of China,” said Tesla Vice President Tao Lin at the ceremony in Shanghai attended by employees and company executives.
Tesla’s CEO in China, Wang Hao, said the company planned to accelerate Model 3 deliveries in January.
