Tesla will deliver the Model Y in the first quarter of 2020

Tesla will begin delivering the first orders of the Model Y, its new SUV compact SUV, in the first quarter of 2020, months earlier than initially announced by the electric vehicle company.

During the presentation of the results of the third quarter of this year, Tesla founder Elon Musk already warned financial analysts during a conference call that the Model Y calendar, which will be the fourth production model for Tesla, is ahead Regarding the schedule.

“We are also ahead of the calendar in the preparations of the Model Y in Fremont (the assembly plant of Tesla in the United States) and we have advanced the time of the launch of the autumn of 2020 to the summer of 2020,” said Musk.

Musk added that “it may be improved, but we are sure about the summer of 2020.”

Taiwanese suppliers are indicating that Tesla is speeding up orders to start mass production six months ahead of schedule. This would mean that the Model Y could be available to the public in the first quarter of the year.

After years of difficulties, in recent months the production and sales of its most popular vehicle, the Model 3, has been at the expected levels, which has allowed analysts and investors to recover much of the confidence they had lost in the forecasts of Tesla and Musk.

The production of the Model Y will be ahead of the pickup truck Tesla has just presented: Cybertruck.

Tesla currently produces the Model S sedan, SUV Model X SUV and Model 3. All of Tesla’s production is concentrated in the plant it has in the Californian town of Fremont.

But Tesla has just finished building a production plant in Sanghai (China) and is planning to open another one in Germany for the European market.
