Twitter reported on Tuesday that it has acquired the newsletter company Revue, as part of the microblogging platform’s initiative to attract users who want to generate money with their followers.

Twitter, which did not disclose the value of the deal, said that as of Tuesday all of Revue’s premium features would be free to all users and that it would lower the fee for paid newsletters to help writers retain more revenue generated by the newsletters. subscriptions.

Founded about six years ago in Utrecht, the Netherlands, Revue has clients such as Vox Media, Chicago Sun-Times, Markup, and competes with services like Substack.

Following the acquisition, Revue will operate as an independent service and expand its team by recruiting for key positions in engineering, design, research and data science.
